EVALUATION
Key Dates:
Grades 1 – 4 registered basketball players must attend one the following evaluation dates:
-Saturday, October 30, 2021, 9 am to noon
-Monday, November 1, 6 to 8 pm
-Thursday, November 4, 6 to 8 pm.

Kindergarten players will not be evaluated. To make evaluations flow smoothly parents will be asked to sign up for an evaluation date and time. Sign up instructions will be emailed prior to evaluation dates. Cheer participants do not need to attend evaluations.

Practice:
Practice is one hour on one night of the week, Monday through Thursday at 6, 7 or 8 pm beginning the week of January 3, 2022, with additional practice on Saturday January 8 (picture day). First game is Saturday, January 15, last game is March 12. There is no practice or game the week of February 7. There will be no end of season program this year.

Registration:
Sunbury Christian Church is offering Upward Basketball and Cheer for grades Kindergarten through 4th grade in 2022 at 250 Rainbow Ave, Sunbury. Registration opens October 4, closes November 3, and is limited to 196 basketball and 34 Cheer participants. Additional registrations will be placed on a waiting list. Parents will indicate a uniform size on the registration, there is no uniform sizing at evaluations.

Registration is available only online. You may indicate one night that your child cannot practice, you may request a coach and a carpool link with another registered player. Practice night exclusions take priority over all other requests. We cannot accommodate multiple practice night exclusions or a specific practice night request.

Helpful Practice and Game Information for Parents
1)Arrive at practice and games at least ten minutes before your scheduled start time.

2) Children should not wear game shoes to the gym but should change shoes upon arriving. This keeps the floor clean to avoid injury.

3) Children should not bring their own basketball, or personal cheer gear, to games or practice.

4) Bring a water bottle to practice and games.

Inclement Weather Policy
If Big Walnut Local Schools are cancelled, practice is cancelled, and there will be no make-up for cancelled practices. In the event school is not cancelled and the weather turns for the worse in the afternoon or on a Saturday, the league will contact parents by text and email if practices or games are cancelled.

Refund Policy
In the event a player chooses not to participate in the Upward season player uniforms, cards, poms, etc. must be returned to the coach or league director by the second game of the season. Uniforms must be unwashed and undamaged. Credit, less the cost of shipping the return, will be given only for those items that are returned.

Adult coach applicants will be required to complete a confidential background check.

Adult basketball and cheerleading coaches are required to complete concussion protocol training every three years. https://www.cdc.gov/headsup/youthsports/training/index.html The program can be completed in 45 minutes.
